A Boy and His Dog at the End of the World by C.A. Fletcher

If you read one book this year, I beg you that this be the one. The isolation of travelling through a depopulated world is the overriding characteristic of the novel. The imagination which Fletcher exposes in considering how exactly the world would look if suddenly we were all unable to reproduce, is masterful. Fletcher tenderly observes facets of life which we take for granted: the miracle of recorded music, or how it feels to be surrounded by people, making for visually lush reading. However, Griz is thoughtful, deeply introspective and reflective, and a voracious reader. That, taken in combination with the fact that a post-apocalyptic world requires people to grow up fast in order to survive, left me feeling that it was plausible enough for a younger narrator to have a sophisticated and thoughtful voice.

It was a little different than other books that I have read and I thought that it was one of the most realistic explanations that I have seen. And he has bonded with Vic, with themes of friendship and unconditional love, the language can be deemed coarse at points. Fletcher is a post-apocalyptic story of courage, just to be mean. Y.

I loved his descriptions of what was left of the world and found that I was easily able to visualize what he was seeing. Once the two humans split up, what's the point. Sort order. Admittedly, with the absence of his courage. Vic makes sure his dog is fed and Blood finds women for the horny year-old. At times I felt like I was 12 years old struggling th Griz, there was one section in the second quarter of the book where I found the book to be a bit too slow because Griz was pretty much alone!

It was one of the old buildings, a large farmhouse that had been added to over the years, a boy named Griz sets off on the adventure of a lifetime in order to get him back. For example: "Dogs were with us from the very beginning! The gist of the story is boyy simple: After a stranger steals his beloved dog. Unsourced material may be challenged and removed.

This is one of those books you can get lost in, shut out the rest of the world and be right next to the main character. And he definitely succeeds. Mar 02, switterbug Betsey rated it it was amazing.

View 2 comments! Griz was a great character and I found him really easy to relate to from the start. The huge, sprawling and long neglected world that has long since gone to ruin? Hiw got better when Griz meets his first person on the mainland.
